The abolition of slavery

If I take all of the money that you have earned from your labour, you are my slave. If I say to you that I will only take 75% of your money and let you keep 25%, are you still my slave? Yes, because you have no choice but to give me that money. So what percentage does it need to be before it is no longer slavery? The answer is not a percentage, the answer is it needs to not be paid under duress..

We tell ourselves that our income taxes are a contribution to a greater society and it is. But a closer examination reveals we pay it under duress, that there is no real accountability with respect to how the money is spent and income tax is not the only tax we pay. There are dozens of taxes. More taxes are added over time such as the Fringe Benefits Tax and the GST. I must continually pay for land I own through Land Tax. Land that I am told I cannot manage via increasing legislation created by people with no “skin in the game”. I have a license and have to keep paying for it for the rest of my life. It becomes a measure of my capacity to pay, not my capacity to drive. There are people driving with no licenses, cars unregistered etc because they have fallen behind in terms of capacity to pay. Is that what we want a licence to represent? A capacity to pay? Added to this is the continuing privatisation of services and one can begin to wonder, exactly what am I paying all these taxes for? When those in power start to align themselves with global interests instead of the people they are supposed to represent, one can begin to wonder exactly when did I choose this? Why am I paying for my own enslavement, watching as those in authority increasingly extend their control over every aspect of my life?

The biggest problem we face today is there is a vision for our future and it is a vision of complete slavery. No bodily autonomy, no possessions, you will eat what you are told you should eat and drive only when you are told you can drive. These rules will apply only for the great unwashed masses and it is being swept in under the guise of "saving the planet". Is this what we really want for ourselves? What is the point of "saving the planet" if you are not allowed to interact with nature?

What is required is an alternate vision of a future worth stepping into.

It is my increasing belief that what missing is a level of consciousness within people as to why their word matters. While ever we all think that someone else can make the rules and someone else will make the punishment, we are like a herd of sheep. The shepherd makes all the decisions, where and what to eat, where to sleep and who lives and dies. We failing to say that we are our own shepherd. Self sovereignty isn’t merely “I get to do what I want and screw everyone else”. That would just be exactly what we already have. It is responsibility for one’s actions. Being true to one’s word and knowing that there are some rules that carry across all borders - such as don’t murder, don’t steal, don’t lie. We have fallen so far our word has come to mean nothing where once it was everything.

There is no quick fix. The net that is closing in on us has been decades, if not centuries, in the making and we are still floundering, many even questioning the sanity of those who are seeing the net. But I am reminded of the Matrix movie when Neo asks whether he will be able to dodge bullets like the agents and Morpheus replies that “when you are ready, you won’t have to”. We must start to see this all for what it is - an illusion we all participate in. The collective makes the reality. The answer to the mask mandates was not protests, although they were important for us all to see how many of us there were. It was non compliance as a collective that stopped the mandates. That collective was made up of individuals who said NO and did not wear a mask.

Start to develop your self sovereignty by making it a practice to start keeping your word. Make a commitment to do a meditation every single day for forty days. Make a commitment to do those things you have been putting off. Speak it and make it so. In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, the word was God.
